The Electron and X-ray Microscopy Group at the Center for Nanoscale Materials (CNM) is looking for an assistant staff scientist to perform research on nanoscale material systems through the development and use of advanced nanoscale synchrotron X-ray microscopy methods.
The successful candidate would be part of a dynamic team, working with a group of scientists conducting a wide range of fundamental research on nanoscale structure-function relationships in both classical and quantum materials using the CNM Hard X-ray Nanoprobe (CNM HXN). The candidate will be responsible for two areas of equal emphasis: i) developing a distinguished user program by providing scientific and technical leadership of user experiments and operations at the CNM HXN, and ii) developing a world-leading experimental program based on integrating the analytical development of HXN coherent Bragg diffraction microscopy capabilities with advanced algorithmic AI/ML approaches to perform and enable research that is intersectional with CNM and ANL strategic scientific directions. The candidate will collaborate with other members of the Electron and X-ray Microscopy Group and seek research opportunities with other scientists at the CNM, Argonne National Laboratory, and elsewhere.
A strong experimental background in in basic research of materials physics systems using advanced synthesis, fabrication, and microscopy techniques is preferred. Additional expertise in synchrotron research used for microscopy and analytical computation techniques for data analysis and visualization is beneficial.
Interested candidates should send a detailed curriculum vitae including a list of publications and the names and addresses of three professional references through the Argonne web site at http://www.anl.gov/careers for requisition number NST 408421.
