Argonne National Laboratory Chief Health Physics Technician in Lemont, Illinois

Argonne is seeking a chief in-field health physics technician to monitor oversight of radiological measurements and monitoring to support ANL Research Divisions. Prepares and maintains documentation and reports of monitoring activities. Supervises health physics technicians assigned to the Divisions at ANL. Prioritizes and schedules daily work projects and reviews and approves completed work. Assigns work to those supervised, and provides oversight of in-field radiological work activities. Ensures compliance with safety standards and regulations.

Position Requirements

  • Knowledge and practice of As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA).

  • Knowledge in contamination control techniques.

  • Knowledge of and skill with radiation monitoring instrumentation and equipment.

  • Knowledge of radiological incident response and controlling incident scenes.

  • Experience conducting surveys of equipment and personnel in a high-risk environment.

  • Previous experience leading and directing a team.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills are required.

  • Experience in a customer service environment is required.

  • Passion for the mission of Argonne National Laboratory.

  • Ability to model Argonne’s Core Values: Impact, Safety, Respect, Integrity, and Teamwork.

  • Education requirements Technical Institute or Associate's Degree & 7+ years of relevant work experience, or equivalent

Preferred

  • Knowledge of ANL environmental, health and safety policies and practices is required.

  • Steward of Argonne National Laboratory resources.
