Argonne National Laboratory Communications Coordinator in Lemont, Illinois
We have an opening for a Communications Coordinator to support the Mobility and Deployment Group in the Systems Assessment Center of the EISA division in communications product development, including writing and editing, creative design, and distribution through social media channels and stakeholder engagement and outreach.
The successful candidate will need to understand Argonne System Assessment Center tools designed for practioners, end-users (consumers/fleets), industry, on transportation electrification, alternative fuels and vehicles, and other clean transportation solutions, and the questions they are helping answer, as well as outputs, while clearly communicating these steps and results to non-technical audiences. These tools focus on estimating the energy consumption, emissions and economic impact of alternative fuel vehicles and refueling infrastructure.
Project management capabilities, including budgeting, goal setting, tracking of communication deliverables, evaluation.
Prepare or edit periodic reports, proposals, conference papers, journal articles, and presentations on analysis findings in a clear, concise manner.
Work with internal and external stakeholders, including division leadership, colleagues in other lab directorates, the DOE Vehicle Technologies Office, and colleagues at other national laboratories.
Ability to work effectively with Communication and Public Affair’s writing, editing, document formatting, graphics, printing, and other groups.
Ability to provide and receive constructive feedback.
Position Requirements
B.A. and 2+ years in communications, marketing, English, creative writing.
Public speaking skills.
Writing skills with ability to take technical content and communicate this content in non-technical jargon.
Editing and technical skills
Ability to work in a complex and diverse group settings, across divisions at Argonne or the national laboratory system and multiple offices at DOE.
Understanding of and interest in sustainability, costs, environmental impacts of alternative fuel and advanced transportation vehicles, including off-road equipment, and cleaner fuels and infrastructure.
Knowledge of government policymaking and regulatory activities.
Organizational skills.
Ability to manage competing demands and pivot on short notice.
Software fluency requirements: Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat (basic) required; Microsoft Excel desired; shared drive platforms, ability to learn other programs as needed.
Ability to represent group/Argonne at tradeshow events and conferences.
