Argonne National Laboratory Division Director, PMO in Lemont, Illinois

We are actively seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Project Management for our Infrastructure Services Division. In this key role, you will provide technical leadership and oversee the Project Management Division, driving strategic planning, capital project design and construction, and project compliance with DOE Order 413.3B. Join our team and contribute to initiatives such as Nuclear Footprint Reduction, playing a pivotal role in shaping the future of our infrastructure.

Responsibilities:

  • Exercise line management responsibilities for the Project Management Division, ensuring effective infrastructure strategic planning and project delivery.

  • Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and implement infrastructure strategic goals and manage the Argonne site master plan development.

  • Integrate sustainability and construction management functions across a diverse portfolio of projects, including repair, renovation, new construction, and demolition.

  • Establish and maintain a consistent enterprise-wide Project Management system, incorporating tools such as the Earned Value Management System and Project Status Reporting system.

  • Regularly interact with Laboratory Management, DOE, and program sponsors, representing the Laboratory on Project Management and Strategic Planning initiatives.

  • Participate in project/program reviews, professional certification programs, and attend project management conferences.

Position Requirements

  • Professional registration in project management, i.e., PMP, engineering, or architecture is required.

  • Nationally recognized skill in the delivery of highly complex technical projects.

  • Skill and demonstrated expertise in team function, management, and leadership in technical direction, supervision within a single or partitioned project environment.

  • Oral and written communication skills and the ability to work at a national and international level and build excellent working relationships.

  • Skill in negotiation and the ability to achieve designated project goals.

  • Knowledge of engineering principles, practices, codes and standards, as applied to the delivery of projects.

  • Ability to model Argonne’s core values of impact, safety, respect, integrity, and teamwork.

Preferred Skills

  • Knowledge of the DOE and Laboratory policies, including DOE Order 413.3B, Laboratory ES&H policies, work rules and safe practices and experience in implementing these in the related work environment.
