The CELS directorateintegratesArgonne's research in the life sciences with the environmental sciences, and the computing sciences and has established a leadership computing facility essential for advanced simulation.

We invite youto apply fora Postdoctoral Appointee position. In this role, you will conduct research aligned with Argonne’s strategic missions in Computationand Life Sciences.Withmentoring,you will:

  • Design and carry out computational research related to infectious diseases,
  • Promote findings through publications, presentations, program reports and other means of reporting outcomes.
  • Contributeto discovery and technological advances in bioinformatics, modeling, and simulation.
  • Strengthen career path opportunities by applying machine learning to genomic and other data,
  • Develop independent research capabilities, and
  • Buildprofessional skills such as communication, networking and leadership.

We expect you to have:

  • A strong background in computer science and microbiology,
  • an understanding metabolic modeling and laboratory methods that can be used to validate andimprovethese models.
  • While you are not required to perform laboratory work, you should havea good understandingof techniques that use next generation sequencing for understanding phenotype genotype relationships.
  • As well as excellent written and oral communication skills.
