Argonne National Laboratory Postdoctoral Appointee - Electrochemistry in Lemont, Illinois
The Chemical Sciences and Engineering Division (CSE) is seeking a Postdoctoral Appointee to participate in a goal-oriented research team dedicated to the advancement of electrodeposition processes on promoting decarbonization and sustainability.
Under the guidance, the postdoctoral appointee will:
Design and conduct electrodeposition experiments and electroanalytical measurements to understand electrodeposition processes of Iron, in both aqueous and non-aqueous media
Conducts characterization of electrodeposits using various techniques including X-ray diffraction, SEM, Raman, etc.
Develop technical ideas to enable in situ and ex situ electrochemical cells to understand the behavior of electrode interfacial chemistry
Perform experiments to understand and quantify reaction pathways and kinetics for desired iron electrodeposition systems
Communicate effectively with supervisors, colleagues, and Laboratory management by providing regular updates, technical research reports, project presentations, peer-reviewed publications, and other established communication channels
Position Requirements
Ph.D. degree level with 0 to 3 years of experience or equivalentin chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, or ca closely related field soon-to-be completed or completed within the past three years
Knowledge of electrochemistry and electrochemical engineering
Knowledge of the physical and chemical principles underlying materials properties, phase equilibria, thermodynamics and the experimental techniques and methodologies associated with these areas
Knowledge of safe laboratory practices
Skills in designing and conducting experiments to collect specified data, operating and maintaining research equipment, as well as compiling, assessing, and reporting test results
Skills in oral and written communication, as evidenced by a history of publications and external recognition
Ability to work as a contributing team player in an intense and results-oriented project
