Argonne National Laboratory Postdoctoral Appointee - MSD Computational Materials Chemistry in Lemont, Illinois

Argonne National Laboratory in Lemont, IL is seeking a Postdoctoral Appointee in the Materials Science Division in Computational Materials Chemistry and Machine Learning. The postdoctoral researcher will use first principles modeling, molecular dynamics, and AI assisted methods to perform simulations/predictive analytics of materials and molecules to understand electrochemical processes and surface chemistry. The postdoctoral associate will have the benefit of collaboration with other experimental and computational scientists at Argonne.

Position Requirements

  • PhD in Chemistry/Chemical Engineering/Materials Science or related field; achieved within the last 3 years or upcoming year.

  • Computational chemistry/materials modeling using one or two of the electronic structure theory-based codes are essential. (Gaussian/QCHEM, VASP/Quantum Espresso, CP2K/ LAMMPS).

  • Reasonable publication record with skills in communication, programming, and data science.

  • Ability to model Argonne’s core values of impact, safety, respect, integrity, and teamwork.

The initial appointment will be for one year and can be renewed for a maximum of 3 years; subject to funding and performance.
