This pre-doctoral appointment in the Environmental Science Division of the Argonne National Laboratory will involve providing technical support to scientific staff for methodological and applied research in atmospheric science in projects related to aerosol-cloud interactions and regional scale climate modeling. For this position, we are looking for applicants with experience in the analysis of large weather/atmospheric datasets, running atmospheric models and analysis of the model output.

A recent (graduated in the last 3 years) Master’s degree in physical sciences related to Atmospheric Sciences or engineering. Strong programming skills such as python to handle large datasets and high-performance computing experiences are required. Knowledge about regional or global climate model output as well as climate related observational datasets are required. Proficiency in statistical methods is desired. Good written and oral communication skills are also required. Ability to model Argonne’s Core Values: Impact, Safety, Respect, Integrity, and Teamwork
