Basic Purpose

The Radiation & Health Physicist provides subject matter expertise in radiation shielding and nuclear criticality to the Packaging Certification & Life Cycle Management (PCLCM) group/Decision and Infrastructure Sciences (DIS) to support all group programs funded by DOE, NNSA, DHS and NRC. Serves as subject matter expert on radiation detection, identification, and diagnostic systems and equipment. Serves as an investigator for radiological detection, analysis and documentation for emergencies. Interfaces with State, Local and Federal agencies, when needed and on behalf of PCLCM and DOE Packaging Certification Program, when needed, regarding radiation monitoring, and analytical equipment and documentation issues.
