The Argonne National Laboratory (ANL) High Energy Physics Division invites applications for a Research Associate position with ASIC design experience to work on the AstroPix Project. The project is a collaboration with NASA Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) and Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) and others to develop pixelated silicon CMOS sensors for space-based detectors. The successful candidate will be mainly responsible to adapt an existing CMOS sensor design to meet the unique requirements for space-based detectors. The position may also include development of testing infrastructure and device characterization dependent on the candidate’s skills and interests.
The position is for 2 years with the possibility of extension depending on funding. Travel to GSFC and KIT will be required.
- Applicants must have a PhD in Physics or Electrical Engineering.
- ASIC design experience is required preferably in HEP or related context.
- Hardware experience, especially with silicon detectors, is highly desirable.
- Good communication skills are required.
- Good general knowledge of current high-energy physics experiments and detector design constraints is desired.
