Argonne National Laboratory Senior Benefits Analyst in Lemont, Illinois

Our Total Rewards team is seeking a Senior Benefits Analyst to help ensure we continue to provide a comprehensive benefits package to support our diverse employee population.

In this role, you can expect to:

  • Research, analyze, and recommend enhancements to our current benefit offerings on an ongoing basis.

  • Design, develop, and implement various benefit plans.

  • Collaborate and lead projects that affect and require involvement across functional departments.

  • Provide Workday Benefits module expertise, day to day and long range planning support, design and configuration to the Benefits Department in partnership with the Human Resources Information System department, including Workday processes for Open Enrollment.

  • Consult with the HR systems team (HRISA) to understand and avoid potential impacts across the Workday system.

  • Collaborate with other functions, such as Payroll, Business Information Systems, Procurement, Legal, as needed.

  • Work in a hybrid environment with the occasional need of working onsite in Lemont, Illinois.

Position Requirements

  • Knowledge of healthcare, retirement, life insurance, long term disability, flexible spending, long term care plans and various leave policies.

  • Knowledge of the laws and regulations that affect the Argonne benefit plans (e.g. ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, TEFRA, DEFRA, HMO Act, ADEA, EGTRRA).

  • Effective oral and written communication skills, along with strong interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to coordinate, organize, and lead activities and meetings with a diverse group of individuals.

  • Ability to plan and coordinate various administrative activities.

  • Ability to handle all phases of assigned special projects (planning, development, and implementation).

  • Experienced with business math and an understanding of basic accounting principles.

  • Experience working with procurement and contracts.

  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with exceptional attention to detail.

  • Ability to work independently while also taking initiative.

  • Ability to understand complex issues that require interpretation of new or changes to existing regulations, internal plan changes or vendor contract changes and implementing these requirements into Workday.

  • Preferred experience partnering with a benefits broker and computer systems including Workday, computer software including Equifax 1094/5, MS Office Suite.

  • PA4: Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 6+ years of employee benefits experience, or equivalent.
