Argonne National Laboratory Postdoctoral Appointee - Membrane Science in United States

The Postdoctoral Researcher focused on the fabrication and characterization of membranes derived from layered materials. The successful candidate will work on cutting-edge projects that involve both structural and chemical characterization to assess ion and molecule permeability. This role will also encompass aspects of high-throughput and automated (robotic) characterization methods.

Key Responsibilities:

Fabricate membranes from various layered materials. Conduct structural and chemical characterization of membranes to evaluate their properties. Utilize and develop high-throughput and automated (robotic) characterization systems.

Analyze and interpret data, maintaining accurate records of research findings. Prepare and present research results in scientific meetings, conferences, and peer-reviewed journals. Assist in mentoring graduate and undergraduate students in related research projects.

Position Requirements

  • PhD in chemistry, materials science, chemical engineering, or a related field with 0 to 5 years of experience or equivalent

  • Basic chemistry laboratory experience

  • Demonstrated experience in membrane fabrication and characterization

  • Proficiency in structural and chemical characterization techniques such as SEM, TEM, XRD, XPS, and FTIR

  • Data analysis

  • Strong oral and written communication

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative research team
